Debit Card Declines

We wish to advise that there is currently an issue at specific merchant locations as a result of software on their point of sale devices not being updated. The service provider is aware of the issue and is currently working to update the terminals.

Unfortunately, this is resulting in some debit cards issued in 2019 and forward being declined.

Debit cards will continue to function as expected at ATMs and other vendor merchant terminals.

 If you experience an issue with your debit card, here are a few solutions:

  • If you have one, you can use your North Peace Savings and Credit Union Credit Card as they are not impacted by this issue.
  • Ensure you have cash on hand by taking out cash at an ATM.
  • Where tap transactions are offered, ask the merchant to split into multiple transactions and use tap. For example, if the transaction is $150 and the tap limit is $100, ask the merchant to split into two $75 transactions.
