Over $5,000 in Bursaries from North Peace Savings & Credit Union Invested In Local Students

July 26th –Five local students from the North Peace and Northern Rockies Regions will be attending post – secondary school this fall with some extra change in their pockets thanks to their local credit union.

Attending a post–secondary institution is often the first exciting step into a student’s developing career choice, unfortunately often paired with a large financial burden. NPSCU recognizes the importance of educational goals and has created a bursary program to assist students in the communities it serves. North Peace Savings & Credit Union (NPSCU) was proud to award five local students with a bursary of $1,000 each to put towards their education this year. While NPSCU received many deserving applications for this year’s bursary program, the credit union would like to extend congratulation to the following students and their endeavors this upcoming school year:

Diana Fendel – will be attending Okanagan College to pursue Practical Nursing
Harlen Bertrand – will be attending Vancouver Island University to study Digital Media
Ashley Thompson – will be attending the University of Northern BC for a Bachelor of Science
Skyeler Kerr – will be attending the University of Alberta for a Bachelor in Engineering
Erin Stutt - will be attending Northern Lights College to pursue an Electrical Apprenticeship

Most recipients will be starting their first year of post-secondary in the fall. It was shared that this bursary would offset some of the financial costs incurred with tuition and textbooks. NPSCU wishes the best of luck to all students that participated in this year’s Bursary Program.  “Investing in education provides a strong foundation for skill development, leading to the enhancement and strengthening of our communities,” shared Mitchel Chilcott, CEO, North Peace Savings & Credit Union. “Being able to provide some relief to the financial stress of post-secondary education is another way in which we help our members succeed in life.”

The NPSCU bursaries are available to high school students who are attending post-secondary school and to post-secondary students who are continuing their education. If you’re planning to attend a recognized college, university or vocational institute for a period of no less than one year, then you are encouraged to apply. The application process opens in the Spring every year. For more information about NPSCU’s Bursary Program, please visit npscu.ca.
