Refreshed Look and Online Services Are Some of the Highlight’s from NPSCU’s Year in Review

Credit Union’s financial results and year in review highlights were shared presented at their Annual General Meeting

Fort St John, February 4th – Members attended North Peace Savings & Credit Union’s (NPSCU) Annual General Meeting on February 3rd, 2015 at the Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre.

It’s Your Life. Build It Here. is a trending tagline heard at NPSCU and can been seen throughout the community paired with their refreshed look that came to life in the summer of 2014. This strategic decision better positioned NPSCU’s ability to provide innovative products and services that catered to the financial demands of life in North Eastern BC. Expanding the online service channels to include the Deposit Anywhere feature and the inclusion of Smart Office technology increased accessibility for members, leading to a 3.16% increase in membership and a 13.15% growth in assets this past year. Mitchel Chilcott, CEO, North Peace Savings & Credit Union proudly stated that, “the inclusion of the technology leverages the skill and talent of our staff across the organization by connecting members from all the regions that we serve to our full range of financial expertise, all from the comfort of their local service centre.”

Recognition in 2014
NPSCU was showcased at the 2014 World Credit Union Conference held in Australia. Mitchel Chilcott, CEO of North Peace Savings & Credit Union was invited to speak and he shared his presentation Building Strong Relationships in Low Density Communities. The communities of North- East British Columbia were featured to credit union attendees from around the world. Chilcott shared that NPSCU’S strategy in using other applications like the Personal Teller Machines suited member’s needs, as conventional branch designs would not be functional for serving more remote areas.

Financial numbers for the fiscal year ending September 30th, 2014
• Membership growth of 3.16%
• Asset growth of 13.15% to $396,321,000
• Retained earnings grew 8.3% to $18,881,000
• Helped 302 families finance their homes
• Invested  $ 81,154,350 in business loans to support local small and medium enterprises
• Supported community programs with $142,891 in funding

Planning for the future
NPSCU’s continuous evolution ensures that they continue to meet the personal and business financial needs of North East British Columbia. Remaining committed to meeting their members’ needs is at the forefront of their organization and they look forward to continuing to establish themselves as the go-to financial services provider. With the new year just beginning, plans are already in the works to increase service for members. Chilcott shared that, NPSCU has purchased the property from St Martin’s Anglican Church for future development. “We are a growing organization within an ever growing community. Securing this property ensures that we can keep pace with the opportunities within the city of Fort St John,” said Chilcott. Planning for the property is still in the early stages and will be developed and communicated later in 2015.
