North Peace Savings And Credit Union Supports the Heart and Stroke Foundation

Close to 30 North Peace Savings and Credit Union employees and their families participated in last week's 'Big Bike' ride for charity to support the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

The Heart & Stroke's 'Big Bike' fundraiser is a fun and inspiring team building event held on a one-of-a-kind bike built for 30 participants that raises funds towards lifesaving research for the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

The 'Big Bike' ride for charity is a cross-Canada event in it's twentieth year.  Fort St. John, a long time participant in the fundraiser, surpassed last year's amount with the help of North Peace Savings and Credit Union employees efforts this past month.

Olivia Young, was this year's team leader for the Credit Union team named the "North Peace Savings Fat Cats".  The team goal was to raise $6,000 and not only did the "North Peace Savings Fat Cats" meet this goal with enthusiasm, they crossed the finish line with a total of $9,315.00 raised for this charity. Said Olivia Young "The 'Big Bike' event was a lot of fun and our team really pulled together to exceed our fundraising goal."

Other fundraising activities that North Peace Savings and Credit Union coordinated to reach their goal included: staff raffles, a community BBQ and a silent auction.  said Mitchel Chilcott "Community involvement is a strong part of our credit union values and the Heart & Stroke Foundation is a great cause.  I'm proud of our employees for volunteering their time and raising money for this valued organization."
